"Taleen Kali composes punk, psych, and synth rock all into a fireball of a project." - New Noise Magazine

She is a musician, visual artist, and writer native to Los Angeles. After coming up in the DIY scene as frontwoman of riot grrrl band TÜLIPS, she went solo at Echo Park Rising Fest 2016 and has since shared bills with indie luminaries such as Ex Hex, Alice Bag, Seth Bogart, Kimya Dawson, Madame Gandhi, and others.

“Soul Songs” is her solo debut out now on Lolipop Records, produced by Kristin Kontrol (fka Dum Dum Girls) and mixed by musical mentor Brad Laner of American shoegaze band Medicine. The album finds Taleen’s riot grrrl ethos maturing into a polished punk sound with noise pop, shoegaze, and new wave influences. It was recorded at the legendary Sunset Sound Studios in Hollywood, and featured in Stereogum who likened the sound to a contemporary Blondie, BUST Magazine who called it “dark and danceable,” Pitchfork’s Guide to Summer Albums, and LA Weekly’s Best Indie Punk Albums, and her song “Half Lie” was recently placed in NBC’s new hit show “Council Of Dads.”

A multi-hypenate to the core, Taleen is founder of what L.A. Times calls “cult favorite”  DUM DUM Zine and organizes literary events, sound healing meditations, and works as a creative when she’s not on tour. Poetry, essays, and visual art appears in The Onion, SPIN, Entropy, Razorcake, Los Angeleno, The Bushwick Review, TL;DR Magazine, Yes Poetry, and publications all over the country.

She is generously endorsed by Fender and Death By Audio Effects Pedals.
