Taleen is a writer, musician, and artist native to L.A. After coming up in the DIY scene as frontwoman of riotgaze band TÜLIPS (2011-2016), she debuted her solo act at Echo Park Rising last summer and formed a new live band, expanding her sonic palette with an array of synths, guitar pedals, and sound healing instruments.
She released the 1st single off her album “Half Lie” via Stereogum–who likened the sound to Blondie–and the 2nd single “Lost & Bound” recently premiered on BUST Magazine. Last Spring, she released the “Who The Fuck Is Taleen Kali?” cassette tape via Bandcamp, voted a “New & Notable” release with “fuzzy, fizzy pop guitars.”
A multi-hypenate to the core, she is founder of what L.A. Times calls “cult favorite” lit and music-minded DUM DUM Zine and teaches Kali Punk Yoga workshops and sound experiences in venues, galleries, DIY spaces, and private lessons throughout Los Angeles.
Poetry, essays, and photography appears in The Onion, FILTER, Entropy, SPIN, Funhouse Magazine, The Bushwick Review, Whole Beast Rag, The NewerYork, TL;DR Magazine, and publications all over the country.
She is generously endorsed by Fender and Death By Audio Effects Pedals.
